Anya Taylor-Joy has ‘secretly married’ her boyfriend Malcom McRae

Is that wedding bells we hear? Well, we think so, because Anya Taylor-Joy has “secretly” tied the knot with her musician boyfriend, Malcolm McRae.

The pair have been together for a year and rumours of their marriage began to circulate yesterday (Monday 18 July), after they were spotted out together in Sydney, with Taylor-Joy looking relaxed in a tan turtleneck sweater, blue jeans, her massive engagement ring and a shiny matching wishbone diamond ring too on the same finger.

And though the couple themselves have yet to publicly speak out about the wedding, according to Page Six, they apparently exchanged vows in the US before heading to Australia, where Taylor-Joy is filming Furiosa, the prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road.

The Queen’s Gambit star was first photographed wearing her engagement ring a few weeks ago in Sydney, and at the time, an onlooker told the Daily Mail, “She bounded off the plane and then seemed to flash the ring at her driver before getting in the car. She was either showing off the ring or doing a dance move. Either way, she looked ecstatic.”

Eugh, our hearts can’t bear it. 

Taylor-Joy and McRae began dating in early 2021, and the actress essentially confirmed their romance during a talk with Elle that April, referring to him as her “partner.” Speaking about their long-distance relationship, she said, “Yes, it is [difficult], but it’s also kind of great because when you’re together you’re really valuing the time that you have. Everyday mundane activities are so full of joy. I love going to the petrol station with him and filling up the car and going to get breakfast.”

By July 2021, The Sun reported that the two were “practically living together,” and now, it seems, they are husband and wife. In fact, on Valentine’s Day this year, the award-winning actor posted a black and white snap of the couple kissing with the caption: “????We’re the same shape????Happy v day lovers ????”.
