We know there is an ever-growing trend of our dear friends in America who love to be prepared for the ‘upcoming doomsday’ event.
This subset of super nervous humans are called preppers or survivalists and in the land of the free, when there is a large enough market, there is always a product to sell. Enter Apocalypse.
Also in true American fashion, the name of the company that makes this zombie-proof Super Truck (among a host of other ridiculous vehicles) is actually called Apocalypse, so you don’t get confused. Clearly someone has watched too much of The Last of Us.
Based on the Ram 1500 TRX, there isn’t all that much that it shares with the American truck in terms of design.
The Super Truck makes use of a tuned Hellcat V8 supercharged 6.2-litre engine with a rather hefty 850 horsepower (634kW) with permanent four-wheel drive.
It rides on 40-inch tyres and 22-inch SFJ rims making it capable of jumping a good 10 feet (3m) in the air and landing safely. You know, in case you need to jump over some zombies.
The crazy and road-legal (in the USA) Super Truck measures 2108.2mm in height, 2489.2mm wide with a a total length of 6096mm. So it probably won’t fit in your inner-city apartment garage.
It can tow 6.8 tonnes and has an eight-foot tray bed. The entire exterior of this beast has an armored epoxy coating with a steel front Grumper (grill/bumper combo) and slate-piled rear steel bumper.
We have asked Apocalypse if they will be looking to work with Australian importers around making this available for right-hand drive and will update the story when we hear back.
We are not sure the vehicle will meet any single ADR rules for compliance, but wouldn’t it be cool to see this thing parked up at your local Coles? You know, in case a zombie outbreak happens? Right?
