Arabic teacher in Abu Dhabi wins Japanese Award

ABU DHABI, 2nd May, 2023 (WAM) — An Arabic teacher in Abu Dhabi has won a prestigious Japanese award for his contribution to promoting educational and cultural exchanges between Japan and the UAE.

The Government of Japan has announced its decision to bestow ‘the Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays’, on Farag Barakat Al Sayed Barakat, Public Relations Manager and Arabic language teacher at Japanese School in Abu Dhabi, according to a press note issued by the Japanese Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

As a teacher and a manager at Japanese School in Abu Dhabi, Barakat has taught Arabic language and Emirati culture to Japanese children enrolled in Japanese School in Abu Dhabi since April 1989, helping them understand culture and customs of the UAE.

He has also promoted understanding of Japanese culture and customs among Emirati children in the school since 2006, helping them gain different cultural perspectives and diverse values, as well as enriching them with global awareness.

The Embassy of Japan in the UAE has congratulated Barakat for his distinguished service and achieving the recognition of the Japanese Government.
