Are Elise and Kyle headed in the same direction?

Elise, 27, says

Kyle seems like the sweetest guy who is very genuine. In order to get to know each other, we played a guessing game. We tried to guess occupation, age etc. I honestly wouldn’t have picked that he was 26 – he didn’t give me that vibe at all. He is very mature for his age.

We had great conversation and covered a lot of different topics. We spoke about future goals, growing up and things like that. He made me feel very comfortable sharing stories. There wasn’t any awkward moments or anything like that. It all felt really effortless. I would describe Kyle as honest, ambitious and empathetic.

After chatting for a while I finally figured out who he looked like – Kyle has a striking resemblance to Spencer Pratt, the American reality TV personality. He said he gets that a lot.

We had some drinks, I ordered the spicy margarita which was so nice. Then we ordered some food. Kyle is a vegan and I totally wouldn’t have picked it. Normally you can tell, like, you just get the vibe but I was surprised when he mentioned it. We ordered some vegan options but turns out he wasn’t the biggest fan of spice either so I would try the food first then give him a rating of how spicy it was which was funny.

We finished up around 9.30pm which was perfect timing as my parking was up then. I asked him to walk me to my car nearby. All and all, we had a really nice conversation but to be honest, I don’t think there was much of a spark. He asked me out on another date and I said I will think about it. I guess I just didn’t know what to say. We didn’t end up exchanging numbers or anything like that so I think he got the vibe.

I think whoever ends up with Kyle is going to be really happy because he’s emotionally very mature, he has his life together and has so much to offer the right person.

Kyle, 26, says:

A friend of mine recently did Blind Date and after seven years of being single, and nothing to lose, I figured I would give it a go as well.

My first impression of Elise was good. She was attractive and easy to talk to. She seems pretty open minded which was nice. She strikes me as a real, girly girl. Loves her retail therapy, loves designer brands and going to Karrinyup shopping centre.

We opened conversation by playing guessing games with each other. She guessed I was FIFO and I guessed that she worked a corporate job, something like accounting because of the way she came across. She is quite direct and a straight arrow.

Elise mentioned she was starting up a business so we had some common ground there and spoke a lot about that.

I think fundamentally, we are very different and that is totally OK. I like to keep fit, love the outdoors and camping. I spend a lot of my time working on businesses and side hustles. I think I am looking for someone with similar interests to mine.

We finished up the date pretty early and we didn’t go over the limit so I think that is a good indication of how it went overall. She joked with the wait staff about getting the remainder turned into a voucher for the next time she went there.

At the end of the date, I walked her to her car and I ended up asking her out on a second date. I have no idea why I did because I knew we were not a match for each other. I think I was almost more of an automatic thing, like it just slipped out. When she said “let me think about it” I was like oh god, why did I ask (laughs).

Even though we were not a match for each other, I had a good time and it was a fun experience. I’d love to give it a go again!
