MANILA, Philippines—Arellano guard Shane Menina is keen on entering the 2023 PBA Draft.

Menina said he will take his chances in the PBA after the NCAA Season 98 where the Chiefs, who are already out of contention, only have two games left.

“That’s my dream. If I get drafted and I’m not used, basketball continues. That’s my mindset. Whatever happens, I’ll keep playing,” he said in Filipino after leading Arellano to an 86-81 win over Perpetual Help on Tuesday.

“I have to show my best because if I want to go pro, I need to show that I can play defense, that’s what I need in the pros.

Menina bolstered his stock with his best performance yet for the Chiefs with 25 points, five rebounds and seven assists.

For the season, Menina is averaging 8.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.1 steals per outing.

The graduating playmaker hopes to make a lasting impression in his final two games with Arellano.

“I have to win the last two games to have a good exit. Losing our last two games would give us a bad look so I have to win these games.”

With Menina’s looming departure, the Chiefs will have to rely on their depth in the guard spot including Axel Doromal and Travis Mantua.

“With Axel (Doromal), he’s a consistent scorer, even if he doesn’t pass it’s okay it’s understandable. We don’t control that, that’s him,” he said.

“Travis (Mantua) is good, he can add a few more to his game. He also needs to lead because sometimes he wants to score but the assists, he needs to improve on that,” added the graduating guard.
