Arsenal and Manchester United transfer target Gabri Veiga was reportedly ‘left crying’ following a meeting with Celta Vigo officials. It has been claimed in the Spanish press that the midfielder has been told that he will leave the La Liga club this summer against his wishes.
Veiga has caught the attention of Europe’s top clubs with his performances this season. The 20-year-old has been linked with big-money moves to the Premier League.
Celta Vigo are apparently keen to cash in on one of their prized assets when the transfer window reopens. Veiga is believed to have a £35million release clause that interested clubs are set to trigger come the end of the campaign.
However, that is reportedly against the wishes of the Spain U21 starlet. The prolific midfielder apparently wants to remain with Celta Vigo for one more season and was supposedly left upset after being informed that the club will listen to big-money offers.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Veiga left a meeting with club officials ‘crying’ and was ‘very upset’ at the club’s attitude towards his situation. He wants to continue his development with Celta Vigo for one more year, and that would apparently be the preference of many interested clubs.
Veiga has scored nine goals and provided four assists in 28 La Liga appearances this season. Real Madrid have been linked with the youngster, although some reports have claimed that Arsenal lead Premier League rivals Man Utd in the race for his signature.
Celta Vigo president Carlos Mourino recently said: “We do not want to sell Gabri Veiga, but they are going to buy him from us. And we can’t do anything about it. We know some of their offers and it’s impossible for us to match them.
“There are several teams chasing Gabri. Real Madrid? They haven’t spoken to us, we don’t know if they have spoken to the player. Of the top ten teams in the Premier League, four have asked us about him.
