Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has reportedly identified an alternative to top transfer target Gabriel Jesus.

The Gunners are in need of fresh options up front following the January departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and with Alexandre Lacazette set to move to Lyon when his contract expires at the end of the month. Manchester City forward Jesus has emerged as Arteta’s top target but with the Gunners facing stiff competition to land his signature, Arteta has reportedly started to look elsewhere.

It comes as Arsenal new boy Matt Turner has already won over his new team’s supporters by refusing to sign a shirt given to him by a Tottenham fan. And Raphinha’s stance on a potential move to Arsenal has been revealed.

Here are Mirror Football’s latest Arsenal headlines.

Jesus transfer alternative eyed

Arsenal are reportedly eying Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata as an alternative to Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus.

It comes following reports that north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race for Brazilian forward Jesus, with Arsenal yet to meet City’s £50m valuation for the striker. With Spurs able to offer Champions League football after beating Arsenal to the Premier League’s fourth spot last season, they could have an advantage in the race to sign Jesus.

That could lead Arsenal to bid for Morata, who reportedly wants a move away from Atleti due to his poor relationship with manager Diego Simeone.

Turner snubs Spurs fan

New Arsenal signing Matt Turner has shunned a Spurs fan who wanted him to sign a shirt.

The incident, which took place as Turner was saying his goodbyes to New England Revolution supporters before making his move, has already endeared the USA goalkeeper to Gunners supporters. When a Tottenham fan approached the shot stopper at the end of the game to get an autograph from the 27-year-old, he swiftly remembered where he will be playing his club football in the near future.

Video footage shows Turner approaching fans to sign autographs, but as he passes them by and walks on to another fan holding a ‘Turner 30’ Revs jersey, someone in the background can be heard murmuring “oh no.” And the move has gone down very well with Arsenal fans on social media.

Raphinha’s transfer stance

Leeds United star Raphinha is in no rush to seal a move to Arsenal as he is holding out for a switch to Barcelona.

The Brazilian has already agreed personal terms with the Spanish giants, but Barca don’t want to meet Leeds’ £60million valuation of the winger. That has led to reports that the Gunners and Spurs have entered the race for his signature with both sides linked with bidding for the player.

But the player himself would still prefer to move to Barcelona, and will bide his time before making a decision in the hope they come in for him before the end of the summer transfer window.
