Arsenal legend Santi Cazorla almost completed a remarkable free-kick feat over the international break as he showed off his ambidexterity while playing for Al Sadd. In the same game, the Spaniard took one set-piece with his left foot and the other with his right, scoring one and hitting the post with the other.
Cazorla has been a smash hit since joining Qatari side Al Sadd in 2020. The 37-year-old enjoyed an illustrious career in Europe but even after crippling injuries and the inevitable drop in physicality that comes with edging towards retirement, he is still one of the finest players in his division.
Before the start of the current campaign, he had notched an astounding 39 goal contributions in 36 league matches for Al Sadd, with assists flowing just as freely as goals. His class was once again on show in a 4-0 win over Al-Sailiya, which took place during the international break.
Just before half time, Cazorla stood over a 25-yard free-kick and sensationally struck the post with his left foot, leaving the opposing goalkeeper rooted to the spot.

Cazorla was a cult hero during his six seasons at Arsenal, scoring 12 Premier League goals in his debut campaign and establishing himself as one of the highest-quality creative players in the division. Injuries wreaked havoc on his final three years in north London, however, as he made just 23 league appearances between 2015 and 2018 before leaving for Villarreal.
The silky veteran completed two successful seasons back in La Liga before moving out to Qatar two years ago. He also has 81 caps for Spain on his CV, including two European Championships, two FA Cups and a Spanish footballer of the year award.
Former Gunner Jack Wilshere named Cazorla the best player he has ever played with, while legendary Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said in 2015: “If you go out and you watch Cazorla play, you think this is not a player, when you watch him play for Spain, who can specifically be a player for the Premier League.
“He’s a fantastic example that no matter how tall you are, it’s about how good you are. He’s a very intelligent player and he also shows how important it is to be right and left-footed in midfield. He’s a good example of how we should educate young players who play in midfield to be able to use their right and left foot.”
