Arsenal defender Ben White is set for an England recall following an alleged dramatic bust-up at the World Cup in Qatar, which saw him sent home early.
The Football Association announced during the tournament that White would leave the Three Lions squad, citing ‘personal reasons’.
But according to the Daily Star, White became unhappy in the England camp and struggled to mix with his fellow international team-mates before he fell out with Gareth Southgate’s No.2 Steve Holland in front of the rest of the squad.
Holland and White allegedly had a heated exchange when the defender turned up to a team meeting prior to the 0-0 group stage draw with the USA not knowing some key information over his own personal stats.
England assistant manager Holland was also reportedly angry over the player’s lack of knowledge of their American opposition.
Southgate names his squad for next month’s Euro 2024 fixtures against Malta and North Macedonia on Wednesday and according to the Daily Mail, White has been approached over a return.
Ben Foster was left baffled over Southgate’s decision to snub White in his England squad to face Italy and Ukraine in Euro 2024 qualifying earlier this year.
‘Something has gone on there for sure,’ Foster told his YouTube channel.
‘Whatever happened in the World Cup happened… I’ve got no scoop on this. But something [else] has gone on there… It just screams of a fall out.’
White has four caps for England after making his debut for the Three Lions in 2021.
