Arsenal told Rice is perfect successor to Partey as £100m deal backed

Rice has been a constant figure in the West Ham side for the past five seasons. He replaced Mark Noble as the club captain following his retirement in the summer.

Meanwhile, Partey has been a key figure in the Arsenal team this season. The Gunners’ only loss in the Premier League came against Manchester United when the Ghana star was missing through injury.

Partey still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at the Emirates. But he turns 30 next June and may soon not fit into the age profile of player Arteta is building his team around.
