The Gunners paid homage to their most successful manager with a fantastic tribute at the start of this season. The French manager stayed 22 years at the club and won three Premier League titles at the helm. He also won 7 FA Cups and also took them to a Champions League final.
During Wenger’s tenure, the North London team won the league without losing a single match in the 2003-04 season, thus earning the title Invincibles. But apart from the results, the Frenchman’s impact on Arsenal was far beyond that.
He was instrumental in the shaping up of the Gunners during his tenure. Arsene’s revolutionary methods in training and tactics brought success to the club and their silky smooth playing style gave them a unique identity.
After the unveiling of the statue, Arsenal’s current manager Mikel Arteta said,”It’s such a great tribute that the club has done something special for Arsène that he fully deserves and merits. With a statue now at the stadium, Arsène can have that recognition and be here at our club forever.”
“I’m so grateful to have played for Arsène at this club in my career. He chose me to be one of his players and selected me to be the captain of the club and that’s something I will never forget,” the Spanish manager added.
Arsenal will be playing their final pre-season friendly against Monaco on August 2, and Wenger will be present as guest of honour in the match.
