Defense: Ben White, Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Oleksandr Zinchenko
Signing Timber brings solid versatility to the backline, with both him and Ben White capable of playing at right-back or centre-back.
It remains to be seen where Timber will be deployed, but Arsenal could very well have the quickest defensive line in Premier League history if they go with these four. Arsenal also have Gabriel Magalhaes who performed well at centre-back last season, and will challenge Timber for a starting spot.
Midfield: Declan Rice, Maartin Odegaard
The signing of Havertz could mean that Odegaard plays deeper next season, and what a partner he’d have in Rice. A do-it-all midfielder, Rice will primarily have defensive duties for Arteta’s side, but has shown he’s more than capable of driving forward and advancing the ball.
Thomas Partey could also be an option if he indeed stays while being linked with a move away. Jorginho and Fabio Vieira will also be strong options in the defensive midfield positions.
