It’s a good time to be an Arsenal fan right now.
After a worrying start to the Premier League season, things are looking good right now with Mikel Arteta’s side winning their last four games in all competitions.
The Gunners can climb into the Champions League places if they beat Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool – with that match live on talkSPORT on Saturday at 5.30pm.
The criticism came early on when Arsenal lost their first three Premier League games, to Brentford, Chelsea and Man City.
They were labelled ‘Banter FC’, while there were serious fears about Arteta’s job after the club spent £142million.
But the club’s hierarchy stuck with their man and it is paying dividends now.
A 5-0 defeat to City came just before an international break and he has turned things around remarkably since then.
He has, reportedly, compared his team to a rowing boat and it is fair to say everyone is pulling in the same direction.
Since the first three games, Arsenal have the best record of any other Premier League team with 20 points from eight games.
The Gunners’ eight-game unbeaten run is the longest of any side in the league.
Aaron Ramsdale has also been brilliant since he joined the Gunners for £30million from Sheffield United.
He has kept three consecutive clean sheets in away games and no Arsenal goalkeeper had kept four in a row since May 2005.
What many Arsenal fans will be delighted about is that many young English talents thriving in their first team.
Ramsdale, Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka all starred in the England team who beat San Marino 10-0 on Monday.
Ben White has also been starring in the Gunners’ first XI this season on their brilliant run under Arteta.
“That’s the thing with Arsenal, you’ve also got that opportunity,” Theo Walcott told talkSPORT.
“What’s really important for them is they’ve got a lot of experienced players around them as well, which will help them around the place day-to-day as well.
“You’ve got to give credit to each individual. Smith Rowe went on loan and had a bit of a tough time on loan, he had a couple of injuries as well.
“I’m a big fan of his and really do like what he does on a football field and I’m delighted he got his England debut and goal as well.”
It’s important to remember that Arsenal and Arteta have not done anything yet and there is still a long way to go.
Their next two away games are at Liverpool and then Manchester United.
But Arteta has brought a good feeling back to the club, with a sense of unity and togetherness among the players.
