Ashneer’s entry
In a new promo of MTV Roadies 19, Ashneer Grover makes a grand entry. He’s seen arguing with Gautam Gulati, TV actor who plays the ‘Delhi card’ and urges him to favour him in the nominations round. Gautam says in the promo, “Aap bhi Delhi se ho, main bhi Delhi se hun. To saath mein milkar kuch partnership karte hai” (You and I both are from Delhi. Let’s forge a partnership together)”.
Ashneer responds curtly, “Delhi, Delhi ka kya hai, sarkar thodi na banani hai yaha pe (Why are you saying Delhi-Delhi, are we forming the government here)?” When another contestant, Prince, tells Ashneer, “Aap Delhi ke nahi, pure India ke ho (You are not just Delhi’s, but entire India’s).” Ashneer interrupts and says, “Jo makhan wala part hai wo hata de” (Remove the bit where you’re buttering).”
Ashneer’s recent comment on airport lounges
While responding to a tweet about the increasing crowds in airport lounges, Ashneer tweeted, “There is more exclusivity in sitting in any airport restaurant and paying for your meal. Lounges are like free meal scheme canteens – with credit card as redeeming voucher!” His comment was criticised by a wide number of users who called him ‘elitist.’
Recent controversy
A month ago, BharatPe had alleged that Ashneer Grover and his family caused damages of about ₹81.3 crore through illegitimate payments to bogus human resource consultants, inflated and undue payments through passthrough vendors connected to the accused, sham transactions in input tax credit and payment of penalty to GST authorities, illegal payment to travel agencies, forged invoices by Madhuri Jain and destruction of evidence.
Earlier this month, the Delhi High Court however refused to stay at this stage an investigation against BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain Grover in the alleged case. BharatPe had filed a criminal charge and a civil suit against Ashneer Grover and his family in December 2022, alleging fraud and seeking damages.
