Besides being male movie legends and first starring together in “The Godfather II,” Al Pacino and Robert De Niro have something else in common: They’re both men nearing the end of their lives who have decided to produce children with younger women.
News came Tuesday night from TMZ that Pacino, 83, is expecting a baby — his fourth — with his 29-year-old girlfriend Noor Alfallah. She’s eight months pregnant and has been linked to Pacino since April 2022, TMZ said. Pacino’s big news — including the fact he’ll be 101 when his child turns 18 — comes several weeks after De Niro, 79, announced the birth of a daughter — his seventh child — with girlfriend Tiffany Chen.

It’s easy to think that Pacino and De Niro — who also co-starred in “Heat” and “The Irishman” — could be in some kind of competition with each other to be the world’s oldest celebrity dad. Incidentally, the two actors’ “hotness” was the subject of a fierce Twitter debate earlier this month. A Twitter user named Ashley Reese garnered more than 40 million views by asking the question: “Who was hotter?” Young Pacino or young De Niro? The final results from May 13 show that each received around 50% of the some 277,000 votes, though De Niro appeared to have a slight edge.

As for oldest celebrity dad, Pacino will beat De Niro once Alfallah gives birth. Of course, that wouldn’t stop De Niro from trying to have another child with his girlfriend.
Still, neither actor can add oldest celebrity dad to their resume of accomplishments — at least not yet. That distinction goes to Nobel and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Saul Bellow, who was 84 in 2000 when his fifth wife, Janis Freedman, gave birth to his fourth child and first daughter. Unfortunately, Bellow didn’t get to spend much time with his daughter. He died in 2005.
If you want to include the parent of a celebrity in this list of older celebrity fathers, Julio Iglesias Sr., the Spanish gynecologist father of singer Julio Iglesias, would beat even Bellow. Iglesias Sr. was 90 in 2004 when his second wife, Ronna Keith, gave birth to his third child, a boy named Jaime. Senior’s fourth child, Ruth, was born in 2006, seven months after he died.
Meanwhile, other well-known older fathers include Mick Jagger, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, who, at 65, has seven children, ages 9 and under. Here’s more on these fathers and others:
Anthony Quinn, the Academy Award-winning “Zorba the Greek” star, was 81 when his secretary and girlfriend Katherine Benvin gave birth to the youngest of his 12 children in 1996. Quinn died five years later.
“Star Trek” star James Doohan’s third wife, Wende Braunberger — whom he married when he was 54 and she was 18 — gave birth to his youngest child, a daughter, in 2000, when he was around 80. Unfortunately, the actor, famous for playing Chief Engineer Montgomery “Scotty” Scott on “Star Trek,” was in poor health in his final years and withdrew from public life in 2004, due to Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, the BBC reported. He died in 2005.
Tony Randall, star of TV’s “The Odd Couple,” was 78 when he and his second wife, Heather Harlan, welcomed their second child, a boy, in 1998. Randall was 75 and Harlan 25 when they married in a ceremony officiated by then-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Randall died in 2004.
As for other famous older fathers, two members of The Rolling Stones continued to procreate in their 60s and 70s. Mick Jagger, 79, welcomed his eighth child — a son, with girlfriend Melanie Hamrick — at the age of 73 in 2016. Ronnie Wood and his wife Sally Humphreys, who is 31 years his junior, welcomed twin girls in May 2016, just two days before his 69th birthday.
