Nainital CJM court staff held in UKSSSC question leak case; 12 arrested so far

The special task force of the Uttarakhand police has arrested a junior assistant of the Nainital chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court in connection with the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission question paper leak case, a senior official said on Monday. The accused, identified as Mahendra Chauhan, is a resident of Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar. So far, 12 people have been arrested in the case, said senior superintendent of police Ajay Singh.

At 270 mm, July rainfall in Rajasthan highest in nearly seven decades

Rajasthan received 270 mm of rainfall in July, the highest precipitation for the month in nearly seven decades, according to official data. In 1956 the state had recorded 308.7 mm of rainfall in the month of July. The lowest July rainfall of 7.2 mm was recorded in 2002. Most of the southwest monsoon rains in Rajasthan occur in the months of July and August. Western districts of the state received the maximum rainfall this July.

Rishikesh gang-grape: Women’s commission asks DMs to check de-addiction centres

The Uttarakhand state women’s commission has written to district magistrates of Haridwar and Dehradun asking them to ensure strict action against culprits in the alleged gang-rape case of a woman from Roorkee at a drug de-addiction centre in Rishikesh, which was shifted to Haridwar after the incident, officials said on Monday. She said that they became friends and once its a resident of Delhi and Honey, owner Ritika Tanwar spiked her drink following which she went unconscious.
