MANILA, Philippines—Ange Kouame is expected to play for the Ateneo Blue Eagles at the start of the UAAP Season 85, which is likely to unfold this October.
Kouame has been sidelined since June due to a meniscal sprain and partial ACL tear.
“Ange is on rehab. He just needs rest. He should be back about two to three weeks time and in good shape by the time we open in October,” said Ateneo assistant coach Dean Castano on Wednesday.
The injuries have forced Kouame to miss Gilas Pilipinas’ friendlies against South Korea as well as the recently concluded third window of the Fiba World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
Kouame is also doubtful for the national team’s campaign in the Fiba Asia Cup in Jakarta, Indonesia slated from July 12 to 24.
The 6-foot-10 Kouame has one year of eligibility left in the UAAP.
He led Ateneo to a finals run in UAAP Season 84 where the Blue Eagles came up short in their bid for a fourth consecutive crown.
