Believe it or not, it took Audi just four weeks to design the one-off tire-eater

Ken Block and Audi are showing off the drift master’s newest one-off vehicle in advance of the upcoming “Elektrikhana” video.

It’s called the S1 Hoonitron, and it was created as an electrified homage to the original S1 Pikes Peak Hillclimb Audi that won the iconic event in 1987, the Group B Audi Sport Quattro S1, which is one of Block’s favourite vintage cars.
And apparently Audi developed it in just four weeks.
The S1 Hoonitron combines two electric motors pushing god-knows-how-much power to all four wheels; is set on a carbon-fibre chassis; and comes fit with “the full safety standards” to keep our talented tire-spinner safe while slipping. A massive wing on the back and some sharp red highlights on the body position the car right on the edge of flamboyant.

In terms of power, however, it’s sure to be far over that line. Block recently had the opportunity to test the car’s “power galore” in Europe.
“I’m familiar with a wide variety of cars using internal-combustion engines and transmissions, but there were a lot of new things for me to learn here,” he said.

“Spinning into a donut at 150 km/h directly from standstill – just using my right foot – is an all-new experience for me. Our work was focused on getting the car and I used to each other.”
The Elektrikhana video is currently in production, and slated to be released in the coming months.
