Augustinus Bader’s New Gel-Cream Was Made Specifically for Oily Skin Types

Another moisturizing ingredient this cream contains is rice bran oil, a skin-care additive that Los Angeles-based board-certified dermatologist James Wang, MD, says is rich in moisture-retaining fatty acids, strengthening inositol, and antioxidant vitamins A, B1, B12, and E. “With continued use, [rice bran oil] is thought to increase microcirculation, reduce inflammation, brighten the complexion, and help fade dark spots,” he notes.

With its heavy-hitting checklist of ingredients, I knew my complexion concerns of dullness and redness were covered. For the sake of skin-care science, I whittled my multi-step skin-care routine down to a trifecta of this cream, a few droplets of the 111Skin Gold Radiance Booster, and Supergoop’s Daily Dose Hydra-Ceramide Boost + SPF 40 Oil for two weeks straight to test its true efficacy.

My favorite way of applying skin-care products is by mixing them all together in one giant glob like a skin-care cocktail, which is exactly what I did when applying my new minimalist morning routine (at night, I stuck to just the moisturizer). When mixing it with other products, I love that I only need about two pumps of cream to cover my entire face and neck, and when using it alone, I only needed an added pump for even application.

Even with other products mixed in, one of the first things I noticed is how fast this cream dries down. I usually wait at least 10 minutes before I start applying makeup over other moisturizers, but this lightweight formula only takes a minute tops to fully absorb, even when mixed with my denser skin-care products. On its own, The Light Cream kind of acts like a mattifying base for my complexion products, which is an added bonus to this luxurious cream.

I’ve only been using this cream for two weeks, so I won’t act as if my complexion has completely transformed. But, with that being said, there’s definitely a noticeable difference. Dark spots on my skin have become translucent marks that are barely noticeable to the naked eye. My skin is overall more radiant and doesn’t feel as greasy as usual — considering the fact that we’re still in the sweaty season of summer, that’s pretty impressive.

In my opinion, this bottle of luxury cream deserves a round of applause for its brightening, moisture-retaining effects. This slippery moisturizer will definitely satisfy any oily-skinned folk with its barely-there feel and fusion of skin-nourishing ingredients, and that’s something we’ll always swipe right on.
