Aussie TikTok queen calls for RULES on editing social pics

She is TikTok’s self-love queen, encouraging young women to ditch the filters and love the skin they are in.

But Ariella Nyssa says it has been a “journey” to find acceptance within.

After racking up millions of followers between her shared social media platforms, the Sydney-based influencer has just released her first book, Ariella Nyssa’s Self-Love Bible.

In it, she shares how she was a member of a church community and was married and divorced before she turned 20, and the path to finding herself once she broke free.

“When I got my divorce, I was in a bad depression,” Nyssa told AAA.

“But I had a light-bulb moment where I told myself I was worthy, I was enough and I deserve love. Sharing what happened to me was really hard at the start because I had so many people against me and I was scared.

“But taking that step to share my perspective was also really freeing and empowering. I realised so many other women have been in a similar position.”

Nyssa uses her influence to speak out against the dangers of photo editing and posts tips for how her followers can feel more comfortable with their natural bodies.

The 25-year-old believes there should be rules on social media to force users to disclose when they have doctored images.

“You need to put that something is an advertisement on Instagram; it should be the same if something is edited,” Nyssa said.

“It is making young people feel like they’re not enough because they don’t realise a picture has been altered.”

While Nyssa said she has never felt more content within herself than she does today, there are still times when cultivating self-love is tough.
