Austin FC crashes out of CCL after losing to HAITIAN side Violette AC over two legs… as Philadelphia Union cruise into the quarter-finals
Austin FC have been knocked out of the CONCACAF Champions League by Haitian side Violette AC after failing to overturn in 3-0 first leg deficit.
The MLS club won 2-0 Tuesday night but could not force extra time in a humiliating outcome.
What makes the loss even more distressing is several players were unable to play due to ‘visa entrance issues’ according to the MLS website.
Austin went into half time staring at a 3-0 deficit in the tie but scored twice in 12 minutes during the second half.
Sebastian Driussi bagged a brace, leaving the Texas club with 27 minutes plus stoppage time to force an additional 30 minutes – though, it wasn’t to be.

The attacker did have one final chance in the last seconds, but he was denied by Violette goalkeeper Paul Robert Décius.
There was better news for the Philadelphia Union, who cruised into the CCL quarter-finals with a 4-0 win vs. El Salvador’s Alianza FC at Subaru Park.
Heading into Thursday night, the teams were tied on aggregate after a stalemate in the first leg.
Damion Lowe opened the scoring in first half stoppage time before a Daniel Gazdag penalty looked to have secured the result.
Andres Perea made sure of it with a late brace to leave the home fans on a high.
