South Australia’s last dine-in Pizza Hut restaurant will permanently shut its doors later this month.
Owners of the Marion franchise of the iconic pizza shop took to social media on Wednesday night to announce the news.
According to its Facebook post, the business at Oaklands Park in Adelaide’s southern suburbs will remain open for three more weeks
“It is with great sadness that we have to announce that our Marion Pizza Hut restaurant will be permanently closing from Tuesday June 28th,” the post read.
“Unfortunately, with long term plans to redevelop the site, we have made the tough decision to close after 44 years in the brand.
“We wanted to thank every past employee and all of our customers for supporting us over this journey.”
The post has generated more than 2800 comments, 775 shares and more than 1000 reactions.
“Totally saddened to hear this news and so very sorry for you all first that own and work there and also for all the sad customers that visit your great business too. Awful news in summary,” one person wrote.
“Definitely an end of an era. Had many birthday parties here and a school excursion making own pizza,” another user said.
“This is such sad news. My husband and I met at Hindmarsh Pizza Hut and even popped into the restaurant on our wedding day to have some photos taken. Many fond memories of our Pizza Hut days,” a third commented.
“When my son comes down to Adelaide from Whyalla, we make sure we go and always have bets on what colour the jelly will be … Will miss Pizza Hut All you can Eat! Very sad time,” a fourth posted.
