Australia secured a 115-run victory in the third and final Test in Lahore to claim their first series win in Pakistan for almost 25 years.

After the opening two Tests both ended in draws, Australia emerged triumphant from the decider as spinner Nathan Lyon took five wickets to help bowl out the hosts for 235 in the final session of the final day.

Chasing 351, Pakistan reached 77 without loss and 142-2 before Australia captain Pat Cummins sparked a collapse.

Babar’s side lose their final five wickets for 22 runs as Australia ended their first tour of Pakistan since 1998 with an impressive win.

‘It was a pretty good series overall,’ Pakistan skipper Babar said. ‘We fought hard in Rawalpindi and saved the match in Karachi.

‘Here, we had two bad sessions. Our plan was to play normal cricket. We thought we would go for the chase if the momentum was on our side.

‘I want to thank Australia for coming here. The crowd supported both teams and we’ve all had a lot of fun.’

Cummins, meanwhile, added: ‘I thought the way we applied ourselves today was fantastic, everyone was up for it.

‘The really great thing about the whole series, we played well in the Ashes, and each individual’s game can be transferred anywhere in the world.

‘Even more than the 15 days, we’ve been so well looked after. We didn’t really know what to expect but it’s been an amazing experience.

‘The whole spirit has been fantastic. A lot of fun. It’s been even more important than just the result.’

Pakistan and Australia will now play three one-day internationals and a Twenty20 match, all to be held in Lahore.
