Since Back 4 Blood by Turtle Rock Studios, the original developers behind the first Left 4 Dead, released back in October, millions of fans have been spending hundreds of hours building out custom decks and getting wrecked by zombies. This week, studio and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released the first roadmap for the game on their official Twitter account, giving everyone a taste of what to expect for the rest of the year and through 2022. As part of the free updates, Back 4 Blood will receive a solo offline mode for players who want to enjoy the game by themselves with bots, and a story expansion.
Beginning in November, Turtle Rock Studios plan to update the game with quality of life improvements and major bug fixes. December is when the first major updates for the game will arrive. Players can expect new supply lines, what is described as a, “Ridden practice area,” and the holiday seasonal event. Next month also sees the arrival of Solo offline with campaign progression, new card type, and all-new cards to customize your deck with.
Sometime in 2022, other features such as new player cards, a new difficulty, new corruption cards, new co-op mode, melee updates, and more quality of life improvements. But the annual pass is what has everyone excited. Three expansions are planned to be released next year, starting with the Tunnels of Terror. There are no details about the other expansions, but it is said to include new cleaners, Ridden, activity type weapons, cards, and exclusive skins.
The annual pass including the expansions is available for $39.99, or $89.99 as part of the Back 4 Blood Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition. The game fared well in reviews, although an update was needed to balance the difficulty levels.
It was reported at the end of October that Back 4 Blood had been played by over six million players— although it is interesting that apparently more people are playing Left 4 Dead 2 than the game. Back 4 Blood is available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Back 4 Blood is also available on Xbox Game Pass.
