‘BAIL, BAIL, BAIL’: Crazy moment croc charges at Rob Irwin

Conservationist Robert Irwin has been forced to dramatically flee for his life when feeding time with a snappy happy croc got a bit too hairy.

The 18-year-old son of wildlife legend Steve Irwin was testing whether leucistic saltwater crocodile Casper was comfortable in his new surroundings.

If all went to plan, he would be set to feature in public shows at Australia Zoo.

While all initially appeared to be going swimmingly – including Casper offering up a few big jaw-cracking snaps – the situation took a turn when it set its sights on Rob, disregarding what he had planned to feed the 3.7 metre, 350 kilogram beast.

“Bail, bail, bail,” he told crew as they fled the enclosure to safety.

Rob shared the footage ahead of the finale episode of Crikey! It’s the Irwins.

“We’ve definitely saved the best for last, including one of the most intense croc feeds I’ve done,” he said.

“We prioritise natural behaviour with our crocs. By getting in their enclosures with them, and letting them put on those huge strikes from the water’s edge, they get to use all of their predatory instincts and they just love it.

“Plus we can educate everyone about their conservation. But safety for us is also crucial and you definitely have to know when to call it.

Casper shares an enclosure with girlfriend Wendy, a croc with the same reduced pigmentation which makes them hard to spot below the surface.

The footage comes amid talk Bindi Irwin is in talks for her first tell-all memoir after giving birth to her daughter Grace.

Reports suggest the 23-year-old will “spare no details” about her life so far including her thoughts on her dad’s tragic death in 2006 as well as becoming a mother.

“Bindi’s been going through her old journals and diaries from when she was a kid, and she’s found some amazing anecdotes about her life,” a source said.
