Barcelona are considering a move to re-sign former player Thiago Alcantara from Liverpool this summer, who they believe is available in a cut-price deal.

The 32-year-old has one year left on his contract at Anfield and could join something of a midfield exodus this summer which has already seen James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamebrlain and Naby Keita leave the club on free transfers.

Jordan Henderson appears set to go as well, after agreeing to an offer from Saudi side Al-Ettifaq, while Al-Ittihad are also plotting a bid for Fabinho.

Jurgen Klopp will not want to let all of them leave, despite looking for more midfield replacements after Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai who have already signed.

Southampton’s Romeo Lavia is being considered, as is Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, although Chelsea appear to be leading the race for the Ecuadorian.

If Liverpool are willing to let Thiago go then Barcelona would be interested in bringing him back to the Camp Nou, according to Spanish publication SPORT.

The Spain international came through the youth ranks at Barca after moving from Brazil and played for the first team from 2009-13, winning four La Liga titles and the Champions League before leaving for Bayern Munich.

His spell at Liverpool has been hampered by injury but he has made 97 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and winning the FA Cup in 2022.
