The Memphis Grizzlies head coach, Taylor Jenkins, has offered an update on the status of star player Ja Morant.
Jenkins says that he can’t share details on what exactly Morant is doing while he’s away from the team, but that there is work that Morant will need to do on a personal level before he can return.
The coach reiterated that Morant will be out for at least the next four games, and established that he is cooperating with the organization and taking responsibility for his actions.
Fans reacted to the statement from the Memphis head coach.
“Hope Ja gets this figured out,” one fan said.
“We with you Ja all the way,” said another fan.
Morant is away from the Grizzlies following a series of troubling off-court incidents.
The first incident stemmed from an alleged altercation between Morant, his friends and members of the Indiana Pacers staff. Another incident involved Morant allegedly getting into a fight with a 17-year-old during a pickup basketball game.
Finally, the Grizzlies announced that Morant would be stepping away from the team for at least two games after the point guard appeared to be holding a gun inside a nightclub during an Instagram live broadcast.
