Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Flash.
Could Michael Keaton’s older and wiser Batman take on Ben Affleck or Christian Bale’s Dark Knights and win? That was the debate between Batman fans on Reddit. While every iteration of the DC hero has his fans, it seems that the decision of which of the three live-action Batmen would reign superior if they ever came to go one-on-one with each other.
The Flash delivered plenty of Batman moments for fans of the character, through the return of Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton in their respective Batsuits, and even a last minute cameo from George Clooney as Bruce Wayne in the closing moments of the film. That immediately instigated the question of who would be the winner in an all Caped Crusade showdown between Keaton, Bale and Affleck, and it seems that Ben Affleck’s experience, skills and tech would lead him to become Batman Victorious. You can see some of the opinions below.
Of course, there is very little chance of this playing out on screen, so that means that whatever the opinions, they are never going to be proven right one way or the other. That said, the fans have spoken, and that is as good as an official confirmation in the hierarchy of Reddit discussions. What the outcome would be if Robert Pattinson, Val Kilmer and whoever the newest Batman turns out to be were involved will no doubt be discussed at a later date.
Ben Affleck’s Batman Became a Fan-Favorite After A Shaky Start.
The arrival of any new Batman is always something that causes a wave of debate and comparisons between fans. When Ben Affleck first donned the Batsuit in Batman vs Superman, the initial announcement was met with ridicule, and the movie didn’t completely make those opinions go away. However, over time, many have come to appreciate “Batfleck” much more, to the point where there has been a huge amount of disappointment over the fact that his solo Batman movie has not and will never happen.
Of course, the debate of who is the best Batman will never have a completely satisfactory outcome, and as a new Batman star joins the list as part of the new DCU, then the list order will no doubt be changing once again in a few years’ time. While Michael Keaton still holds a strong place for being the first big screen Batman, and his return in The Flash proved his popularity, it seems that subsequent iterations have attributes that perhaps put him further down the Batman hierarchy when it comes to their actual abilities.
The coming years will see Robert Pattinson continuing to deliver his gritty, grounded version of the character, while the new iteration will be taking on the role as part of the DCU line-up, expectedly making their debut in The Bold and the Brave. With these new projects coming down the line, Batman fans will certainly not be short of new projects to look forward to.
