Bay Area jazz star accompanied by NY Yankee great in concert

Bay Area jazz violinist Mads Tolling is bringing his Mads Men group to Yoshi’s for two shows in one night.

Yet, they’re not coming alone. Tolling’s troupe will be accompanied during those concerts by Bernie Williams.

Name ring a bell? It definitely should — especially for baseball fans.

Besides being an accomplished guitarist, Williams is a former New York Yankees great who helped those pin-striped Bronx Bombers add four more World Series titles to their already gaudy total.

It turns out Tolling and Williams ended up jamming together last summer and enjoyed it so much that they decided to play together again.

So, that explains why Bay Area fans will get the chance to witness Tolling, Williams and the Mads Men — pianist Colin Hogan, bassist Gary Brown and drummer Eric Garland — perform contemporary versions of jazz and funk classics from the 1960s on Jan. 30 at the famed Oakland club.

The group will likely draw from the popular 2017 album “Playing the 60s,” which includes such ’60s selections “Georgia On My Mind,” “All Along the Watchtower” and — yes! — “Meet the Flintstones.”

Appropriately enough, the sets will also reportedly include Williams’ version of “Take me out to the Ballgame” — a tune that the Yankee slugger heard hundreds of times during his career.
