An Armijo High School student ended up in Solano County Juvenile Hall Tuesday after his arrest following a search of his backpack, which yielded a semi-automatic handgun.
In a press statement issued Wednesday, Fairfield Police Department officials said Officer James Lewis, a school resource officer assigned to the 824 Washington St. campus, learned of an “ongoing issue” between two male students (both minors), in which one student threatened to physically harm the other.
A school administrator escorted the student who made the threatening remarks to the main office and, based upon information that he was in possession of a firearm, Lewis searched the boy’s backpack.
Inside the backpack, Lewis found a second, cross-body bag from which he recovered a loaded Polymer80 Glock-style pistol, or a so-called “ghost gun,” with an extended magazine inserted into the magazine well. Ghost guns are unserialized and untraceable firearms, made with parts that can be purchased online and assembled at home without a background check.
