Bayer Leverkusen want €40m (£34m) plus add-ons for Jeremie Frimpong this summer, with Manchester United among the interested parties in the full-back.

The 22-year-old is attracting the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Bayern Munich and Barcelona also considering a bid for him during the transfer window.

The right-back came through the youth ranks at Manchester City before signing for Celtic in 2019, where his performances saw Bayer Leverkusen buy him in January 2021.

Two-and-a-half seasons later and he looks set for the biggest move of his career, with Sky Sports reporting that €40m (£34m) plus add-ons is the asking price, and that is unlikely to put off the likes of Manchester United, Barca and Bayern.

Asked about his next move in April, Frimpong told Sport 1: ‘I don’t know when I will decide about my future. I’m just concentrating on Leverkusen and the upcoming games.’

There is set to be plenty of business at Old Trafford this summer, with Erik ten Hag keen to add to his squad and also get rid of some fringe players.

A number of defenders are likely to be sold, with Harry Maguire, Brandon Williams, Eric Bailly and Alex Telles all available for transfer.

Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial’s futures are also in question, with the Red Devils reportedly happy to let both go for the right price.

If Frimpong is to arrive, there would also be doubts over Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with one potentially being moved on.

The two right-backs have shared the position this season, but one would become third choice and be unlikely to hang around with opportunities extremely limited.
