Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign Declan Rice from West Ham and have reportedly already held talks with the player’s representatives.

Arsenal are preparing to submit a club record £92m opening bid to sign Rice and appear to be the current favourites to land his signature.

The Gunners are confident of signing Rice despite interest from fellow Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea.

Arsenal have made Rice their top summer transfer target and Mikel Arteta is believed to be a ‘huge fan’ – having already made plans regarding where the England international would fit in his system at the Emirates.

But according to reports in Germany, Bayern are also very keen on a move for Rice, who want to bring in his best friend Mason Mount too.

Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel is believed to be a huge fan of Rice while the club’s hierarchy view him as ‘the perfect defensive midfielder’ for the club.

There have been talks with the player’s representatives although Bayern are wary Arsenal are pushing to sign him and it is thought he may be a ‘very difficult transfer target’ for the German club.

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has urged his old club not to overpay for Rice and feels he is worth closer to £60m.

Dwight Yorke has also warned Rice against completing a transfer to Arsenal this summer.

West Ham, meanwhile, feel that they may be able to generate a higher fee for Rice if he moves to Old Trafford instead.
