FANS have hit out at the BBC over their coverage of the idiotic eco-protests which halted the World Snooker Championships.

Day three of the tournament was disrupted after a yob stormed the snooker table and poured orange powder all over it.

The first-round match between Robert Milkins and Joe Perry had to be abandoned due to the mess created by the Just Stop Oil protests.

While another eco-nut was stopped in their attempts to climb onto table two where Mark Allen was playing Fan Zhengyi.

Police confirmed that both had been taken into custody.

Snooker fans fumed at the BBC not immediately cutting away from the foolish stunt and for posting the video on their social media channels.

One said: “This is exactly what they want! Don’t give them any coverage.”

Another fan took aim at the BBC Twitter’s page where the video is still posted and said: “Don’t give them any publicity by showing the footage!”

While another added: “How about you don’t post it? This is what they want…”

Another critical fan said: “Your organisation is part of the problem.”

While another unimpressed viewer advised: “Next time they try something like this just turn the cameras off to starve them of the publicity they crave.

“After all that’s what they are there for.”

And finally another fan said simply: “Your coverage is a mess.”

The BBC have been contacted for comment.

Seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry revealed his shock at seeing the protestor storm onto the table.

He said: “I have never seen that before at a snooker event. It’s a first.

“It is scary. Wow! You just hope the cloth can be recovered from that. It caught us all by surprise and then this happens.”

The interruption at the crucible came days after protests also disrupted the Grand National.
