Beach bike cruising is about to get a whole lot easier, thanks to Priority Bicycles.

If you’ve followed my fandom of Priority Bicycles, then I have exciting news to share. The independent New York-based brand dedicated to making cycling simple for everyday riders, is releasing the Coast beach cruiser, the only electric, belt-driven beach cruiser on the market. If you weren’t sure you needed your breezy coastal ride to be even breezier, well, it turns out you do. You can ride further along the island or coastal route of your choice with this electric, belt-driven bike.

Priority Bicycles remains the industry leader in high-quality, low-maintenance belt drive bicycles and is the creator of the award-winning Coast beach cruiser. Monday, the company announced its new e-Coast, the only electric, belt-driven beach cruiser on the market.

The e-Coast is designed to combat coastal elements, the same salt, sand, and water that turn your standard Costco cruiser into a rust sculpture a year later. Modifications to the frame, handlebars and tires help support an electric-specific ride. It has all the features of Priority’s beloved Coast beach cruiser, but has been powered to go farther, even faster.

“After the success of our traditional Coast model, we began working to bring an electric version to customers who seek the beach cruiser aesthetic with the mobility of an e-Bike. We purposely designed The e-Coast to be like a seafaring vessel; it is the perfect marriage of beach cruiser comfort, extended travel distance of an electric bicycle, and the hassle-free maintenance Priority is known for,” said David Weiner, founder and CEO of Priority Bicycles. “It always feels good to be an innovator and bring something to market people have never seen before, especially for riders who want to focus more on enjoying the sand and water and less about how it’s creating wear and tear on their ride.”

Though I’ve yet to test the bike, word on the cycling path is that the e-Coast offers a laid back, ultra-smooth ride, thanks to a grease/rust-free Gates Carbon Drive belt at its core. Whether full throttle at its max speed of 28 mph or navigating stormy conditions with its beefy three-inch wide tires, the high-quality, ultra-comfortable and super durable cruiser is ready to take on full day trips, weekend outings, dawn patrol and family adventures. This new Priority bicycle model boasts features that are purposefully selected for their reliability, durability, and comfort.

For my cycling fanatics, here are the key details:

Dual-Control Hub Motor: The e-Coast is outfitted with a dual-control Priority 500-watt rear hub motor. The variable pedal assist cadence sensor and twist throttle offers flexibility around how the motor is engaged. It ships as a Class 2, 20 mph setting, but can increase to a Class 3, 28 mph setting (though please note local laws on speed).

Sleek Battery Integration: The Priority 500-watt motor is powered by a 576-watt-hour battery that’s integrated into the rear rack, keeping the lines of the e-Coast clean. The battery is easily removable and can be charged on or off the bike.

Rust-Free, Ultralight Frame: Priority Bicycles modified its standard Coast frame significantly to accommodate the motor, battery, and wide tires, and stiffened it for higher speed use. Not only is the aluminum frame strong, but it can withstand the corrosive salt, sand, and water at the beach.

Stopping Power: Hydraulic disc brakes are super reliable, work in all weather conditions, can handle varied terrain with ease and require very little maintenance.

The Priority Bicycles e-Coast beach cruiser is now available for purchase at www.PriorityBicycles.com for $1,999 in two frame styles (diamond and step-through), each with three different colors.
