Indian Premier League side Mumbai Indians had a training session interrupted by a swarm of bees on Tuesday, with players forced to hit the ground in a bid to take cover.

Mumbai have endured a woeful tournament so far, with the five-time champions currently rock bottom of the table. After six games, Mumbai have failed to pick up a single point, losing every match so far.

And ahead of a clash with long-time rivals Chennai Super Kings, a training session was derailed after a swarm of bees flew onto the ground. The franchise posted a clip of the swarm on social media with the caption: “To bee or not to bee in training was a question yesterday!”

Meanwhile, speaking ahead of their clash with Chennai on Thursday, bowler Jaydev Unadkat referred to the match as the “El Clasico of the IPL” given the two sides have won nine of the 14 previous editions of the tournament. However, like Mumbai, Chennai have struggled this season picking up just one win from their first six matches.

“Everyone knows MI and CSK are the most successful teams,” Unadkat said. :From the outside, it is probably the El Clasico of the IPL. Both teams are going to come hard and it will be a good contest.

“This team has seen it all. They have the most number of trophies, they have seen lows, and they have come back from those lows too.

“Someone like Rohit bhai [captain Rohit Sharma] obviously knows how to handle the situation. It’s always important to not panic when you’re not doing well, because to come out of that situation, you need calmness in the mind.

“When that’s there, you make the right decisions. Every one of us have to be on that page where we’re calm in the middle.”
