Bel-Air certainly lived up to the hype when it premiered on streaming service Peacock in early 2022, with fans loving the re-imagined version of the hugely-popular nineties sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
In the original series, which first premiered thirty-three years ago (!!), Will Smith’s character is sent by his mother from his rough Philadelphia neighbourhood to Bel-Air in sunny California to live with his wealthy Uncle Phil, Aunt Vivian and cousins Carlton and Hilary. Of course, this is also explained in the catchy theme song.
The series spanned six seasons, culminating in 1996 and became a cult classic. So you can imagine expectations of the re-imagining were high, with Jabari Banks taking on the lead role of Will. And with the first season ending on such an intense cliffhanger, fans have been dying to know more about season two.
Well, fear not because the second instalment of Bel-Air isn’t too far away! Keep scrolling to find out everything there is to know about season two.
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
What happened in season one of Bel-Air?
The one thing that was different about Bel-Air is that it didn’t have the same sitcom-style theme as Fresh Prince, and there were no laugh tracks. Instead, Bel-Air was billed as a drama, which was undoubtedly the case as things took a dramatic turn. The end of season one saw Will feeling conflicted about his future and his new life in the gated community of Bel-Air. He also stormed out of the house following a heated argument with his absent father, Lou.
What can we expect in season two of Bel-Air?
The official synopsis for season two reads: “Season two of Bel-Air picks up with Will at a crossroads in his life as a new figure comes into his life who challenges what he’s learned in Bel-Air and competes for control of his influence. He juggles this while navigating his home life with the Banks family and trying to rebuild the trust that was broken at the end of last season.
