Viewers were stunned when Captain Lee Rosbach, the face of the Below Deck franchise, announced he would be stepping down from the popular reality series during its 10th season. The rumour mill quickly started speculating who could be coming in to replace him. Still, fans have almost unanimously agreed they won’t be happy if a certain captain from Bravo’s hit spin-off Below Deck Mediterranean makes the leap.
Below Deck viewers have threatened to stop watching the series if Captain Sandy Yawn is brought in to replace Captain Lee.
Earlier this week, the stalwart skipper, aged 73, confirmed he would be quitting the series midway through the current charter to focus on his health.
He had previously taken charge of the latest luxury superyacht, the St David, but a replacement is expected to take the lead next week.
However, it’s currently unknown if the series has already found its permanent replacement, or if a temporary captain will be brought in before the final decision is made.

After Captain Lee broke the news on Monday night’s episode, several fans took to Twitter claiming they won’t be watching if Captain Sandy is chosen as his replacement.
@SylviaB2022 wrote: “If the rumour mill is accurate that Capt. Sandy is replacing our favourite Capt. Lee, I for one will not be watching the remainder of the season!”
@Margotzissou said: “Stopped watching #belowdeckmed because of Captain Sandy.
“Really like the cast of #belowdeck but I guess next week is the last one I watch, not going to watch Sandy replace Captain Lee.”
“Are you crazy? Literally, anyone would have been a better replacement for Captain Lee! We are sooo tired of Sandy! No one likes Sandy!”
While Bravo has yet to officially confirm Sandy’s involvement in the current season, fans are convinced she’ll be brought on at least as a temporary replacement.
In fact, leaked photos from filming seem to confirm the Below Deck Med captain will at least be making a surprise guest appearance at some point in the season.
The snaps emerged several months ago while season 10 was in production and showed Sandy on board St David.
While this doesn’t necessarily mean she’ll be coming in as Lee’s replacement, it at least confirms her involvement with the flagship series in some capacity.
There could be a chance she’ll just be making a guest appearance for one or two episodes before Captain Lee is replaced by a new face.
Either way, fans were distraught to say goodbye to the ‘Stud of the Sea’, and even those unhappy with the news are bound to tune in next week to find out what’s coming next.
Below Deck season 10 continues Mondays on Bravo in the USA and is available on Hayu in the UK.
