It’s been five years since Benedict Cumberbatch, who was recently interviewed by Esquire UK, entered the MCU in Doctor Strange. Since then his Sorcerer Supreme has featured in Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. While next month he will co-star opposite Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

As a post-Endgame MCU gears up to embrace alternate realities, next May sees the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

After six long years, Cumberbatch’s Marvel wizard is finally getting his first solo sequel, but the star has admitted he’s nervous about the blockbuster.

Speaking with Esquire UK, the 45-year-old said: “I’ve got the Second Album Fear with this one because the first one was such a riotous success and he’s become a much-loved character.”

Nevertheless, the star has been enjoying the thrill of making multiple Marvel movies as Doctor Strange.
