Bengaluru FC vs Jamshedpur FC Live
Hello and welcome to the Live coverage of the knockout stages of the Super Cup. This is your host Aditya K Halder, who will take you through all the live action for the first semifinal between Bengaluru FC and Jamshedpur FC. The match start in another 40 minutes!
The match was earlier scheduled to be held at 8:30 PM IST but the organisers decided to reschedule it with no early evening clashes left to play in the tournament. Irrespective of how Bengaluru fared this season, which saw them finish runners-up in ISL and win the Durand Cup, beating Jamshedpur won’t be an easy task.
This is the 14th time that Jamshedpur and Bengaluru FC will square off with Bengaluru leading the head-to-head 6-4. The remaining three games ended in draws. To Bengaluru’s advantage, they have defeated Jamshedpur three times this season.
However, Men of Steel found form late in the season. Aidy Boothroyd’s side won all their group games and scored the most goals so far in the event at 11. The side scored five past FC Goa in a goal fest while taming down ISL champions ATK Mohun Bagan 3-0 in the next game.
They rounded off the group with a 3-2 win over Gokulam Kerala despite several key players rested. Harry Sawyer, Farukh Choudhary and Ishan Pandita have been the star performers with the Englishman scoring in all the group games.
Bengaluru, on the other hand, made it to the semifinal by knocking out local favourites Kerala Blasters but only held them to a 1-1 draw after taking lead early in the game. Their sole win came against I-League champions RoundGlass Punjab (2-0).
This came after a spirited Sreenidi Deccan held them to a 1-1 draw in an evenly-fought contest. RoundGlass, in fact, did Bengaluru a favour by defeating Sreenidi in the final group match.
