Mercedes-Benz debuted the latest generation of its E-Class wagon late June, and while American shoppers will have one wagon option, the All Terrain, Driving.ca has confirmed with Mercedes-Benz Canada that neither it nor any other variant will be offered in Canada. It’s a crying shame, because our global automotive peers have been raving about it.

Other parts of the world will receive different variants than the U.S., like the E-Class Estate, which is scheduled for the European market and will be available with a combustion engine, as well as a gas and/or diesel plug-in hybrid option.
So, what should you know about the E-Class that you won’t be able to own in Canada? Well, for starters, it has gotten ever so slightly more spacious, having grown an inch in width, and now riding on a 116-inch wheelbase. There’s a bit more room for passengers inside, as well as for luggage in the cargo space at the rear.

2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class ups the ante on passenger entertainment
The German engineers haven’t skimped on tech features, either. When the 2024 E-Class was first announced earlier this spring, it made headlines for its built-in selfie camera on the dash, along with easy-to-access social media apps, like TikTok.
Since Benz doesn’t want to encourage any distracted driving by implementing these new features, it’s also developed a face-monitoring system that will either dim the screen or stop streaming the video content on the passenger side’s screen if it notices the driver is looking over too often. All of the interior tech advancements are accessible via the MBUX Superscreen, a behemoth of a dashboard display that spans the passenger side, as an option.

There are other, arguably more useful technology upgrades—one’s that don’t involve your passenger melting their brain on social media—like a variety of parking assist features, including an option to store up to five different manoeuvres, and access to work-friendly apps like Zoom.
The re-imagined front grille and taillights have been outfitted with a star-shape design inside of them, echoing the Mercedes emblem. There are other luxury design features you expect from Benz at this point, like flush-fitting door handles, and the roof has been “more dynamically designed” than its predecessor, according to the brand.
Despite the hype around all-new 2024 E-Class wagon, all we’ll have access to is last year’s 2023 model. To be honest, this isn’t the end of the world. It’s still a solid premium option. Catch up on all of the specs for the 2023 E-Class here.
