In 1895, Berluti established itself as a fine shoemaker for the cobbles lining the Paris streets. Fortunately, more than one hundred years later, Berluti developed fine leather goods and accessories that gave way to ready-to-wear collections. In 2011, the brand introduced its first complete clothing collection and offers a bespoke experience for its customers. The Berluti name has fashioned distinguished men in suiting, dressier shoes, and boots in its existence, with service workshops in rue Marbeuf and rue de Sèvres, and over 60 stores worldwide.

The gentlemen who wear Berluti have evolved with the generations, and the LVMH owned brand has developed its taste to cater to them. As noted by Berluti in a statement released, the “bootmaker universe of leathers, patinas, and colors,” has been fine-tuned for the relaxed and casual man of the post-pandemic era. Berluti’s ready-to-wear Spring-Summer 2022 collection has been modernized with a silhouette that remains as chic as a French fashion house can suggest.

Berluti taps into its traditional designs, like its 18th-century manuscript-inspired ‘Scritto’ motif design, which is brought to life in 2004, as the palette for the streetwear-Esq designs of this ambitious collection. The original Scritto design was hand-calligraphed poetry. Berluti’s reinterpretation of this aesthetic amplifies the expressive side of the modern man, designed beyond the leather wallets and belts. An enlarged design, the abstract Scritto design comes in silk inserts and embroidery stitching on nubuck bombers. The bomber displays the refinement of the Berluti name with millimeter-precise positioning of the abstracted motif and superb fitting techniques

The Scritto motif design is also woven, knitted, or printed on windcheaters, sweaters, shirts, and shorts, in colors and patterns that attract as much attention as the Berluti bags and shoes. The refreshed all-over design is applied through a novel heat-sealed leather padding process when not embroidered on one of their polo shirts or a chest pocket of an overcoat.

The interfacing features in the jackets have been removed, helping craft a fluid silhouette that is lightweight. Berluti has also crafted shirt-jackets with large patch pockets and trekking-style jackets in shearling, and leather, also vest styles, as well as in a puffer vest. Raincoats and other lightweight jackets complement slick trousers. And classic style tees, plush hoodies, and many other accessories are available, including a Scritto print phone case, leather keychain, and toiletry bag.

Shoes are at the core of the Berluti name, and beyond the classic dress shoe, the brand is also exploring the luxury sneaker. The Eden sneaker is made with very supple leather that forms to the skin and is part of a new ultra-comfortable shoe line from the Paris-based Maison. Berluti staples, The Playtime, and Fast Track sneakers come in two different types of leather, made with the same quality. Dress shoes like the Alessandro and the Andy come in decorative leather styles.

The Berluti signature pattern canvas is repeated onto a herringbone weave, with a Venezia leather detailing at the corners, tabs, handles, and base. The Spring-Summer 2022 collection hasn’t stepped away from its traditions in leather, which Berluti has built its brand. In a modernized breath of luxury, Berluti reinvents its emblematic leather aesthetic with the abstraction of the Scritto motif and expressive tailoring and flair. Streetwear has overcome a majority of luxury brands and is an unwavering style noted by Berluti, taking advantage of having distinguished pieces within the market.
