THE best campsites and caravan parks in the UK have been revealed in the annual AA Awards.

The awards revealed the winners for the 2021/2022 season, ranging from the best regional sites to the best glamping site.

“As the hospitality industry has reopened over the past few months, we have seen British tourists exploring the UK more than ever, enjoying incredible campsites and caravan parks across the country. Here are the winners to add to your bucket list for your next staycation:

Campsite of the year – South Lytchett Manor Caravan & Camping Park, Dorset

Voted the best campsite of the year, South Lytchett is based in the grounds of the historic manor house in Poole.

It was praised for their “year-on-year” improvements which recently included a new cafe, six new glamping pods and 21 pitches, as well as other luxuries including shepherds huts with underfloor heating, and free WiFi.

Prices start from £15 for non-electric pitches.

Best Scottish campsite of the year – Brighouse Bay Holiday Park, Dumfries & Galloway

Scotland’s Brighouse Bay Holiday Park came out on top, with guests both near the beach and able to enjoy the on-site 18-hole golf course.

Their pitches were praised, having been “sculpted into the meadowland”, along with their range of leisure activities for families.

Prices start from £20 a night for standard pitches.

Best Welsh campsite of the year – Pencelli Castle Caravan & Camping Park, Powys

The Pencelli Castle Caravan & Camping Park has one of the best locations, being in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

The campsite won the award for its “attention to detail” which included heated toilets, drying rooms for clothes and boots and nearby bus service.

Prices start from £12 per person for pitches.

Best South West campsite – Woodland Springs Adult Touring Park, Devon

Also in a national park is Woodland Springs Adult Touring Park, located in Dartmoor National Park.

The campsite was praised for being “very peaceful” as well as new renovations including new reception and shop, as well as new premium pitches and extra toilets.

Prices start from £25 a night for pitches.

Best South East campsite – Swiss Farm Touring & Camping, Oxfordshire

Swiss Farm Touring & Camping is just a short walk from the town of Henley-on-Thames, meaning it is perfect for visitors heading to the Henley Regatta.

It was praised for their spacious pitches, as well as their outdoor swimming pool.

Prices start from £19 a night for pitches.

Best heart of England campsite – Wheathill Touring Park, Shropshire

Found between the towns of Bridgnorth and Ludlow, Wheathill Touring Park also won an award this year.

The campsite not only has great views, but great amenities onsite and is near a pub serving great food and ales.

Best North West campsite – Lamb Cottage Caravan Park, Cheshire

Whitegate’s Lamb Cottage Caravan Park was voted the best in the North West, which is an adults-only campsite.

It was praised for being peaceful and spacious, as well as being a great base for nearby woodland walks.

Prices start from £30.50 a night for super pitches.

Best North East campsite – Ladycross Plantation Caravan Park, North Yorkshire

Ladycross Plantation, in Whitby, is set in 95 acres of woodland for a private campsite feeling.

It won the award for best North East campsite due to their smart amenity blocks with underfloor heating and no-touch showers, as well as the increase in pitches and woodland walks.

Best holiday centre – Park Foot Caravan & Camping Park, Pooley Bridge, Cumbria

Guests at Park Foot Caravan & Camping Park, which won for its holiday centre, can choose from all kinds of activities

They were praised for their options, which includes pony-trekking, as well as a well-stocked shop restaurant and bar.

Most improved campsite – Riverside Camping, Gwynedd 

Riverside Camping has all kinds of options for travellers wanting to be near Snowdonia, with grass pitches and service pitches for caravans.

They won for being most improved, with praise going to the cafe/restaurant, volleyball and boules facilities, and their new mountain view luxury lodges.

Best small campsite – Red Bank Farm, Lancashire

Near to the beach, the Red Bank Farm is the winner for the small campsite category.

With just a few holiday homes and pitches, there are also amazing views over Morecambe Bay, and has an on-site cafe too.

Best glamping site – Concierge Glamping, West Sussex

Chichester’s Concierge Glamping was deemed “first class” for people who love luxury camping.

It was praised for their spacious pitches, local produce shop, breakfast hampers, and extras such as full-length mirrors, fancy toiletries and rain showers.

Prices start from £32 a night for pitches.
