Best March Madness prop bets for Thursday’s NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 games

0

After a three day break, March Madness action will resume on Thursday with the start of the Sweet 16.

Four games will take place on Thursday, March 23. They are as follows:

  • No. 7 Michigan State vs. No. 3 Kansas State
  • No. 8 Arkansas vs. No. 4 UConn
  • No. 9 FAU vs. No. 4 Tennessee
  • No. 3 Gonzaga vs. No. 2 UCLA

If you’re looking for a few player props for Thursday’s slate of games, you’ve come to the right place.

Let’s jump into them.

March Madness Sweet 16 player props

  • Markquis Nowell OVER 18.5 points (-105)
  • Ricky Council IV UNDER 15.5 points (-105)
  • Alijah Martin UNDER 13.5 points (-130)
  • Jaime Jaquez Jr. OVER 19.5 points (-110)

Markquis Nowell OVER 18.5 points (-105)

Markquis Nowell has got hot in the NCAA Tournament, and I’ll bet on him to continue this hot streak. he shot 50% from the field against Kentucky in the Round of 32, which resulted in him racking up a total of 27 points.

Now, he gets to face a Michigan State team that ranks just 116th in the country in defensive efficiency. It’s time to ride the hot hand and bet on Nowell to reach 19 points in the Sweet 16.

Ricky Council IV UNDER 15.5 points (-105)

Ricky Council IV has gone over this total in his first two games this NCAA Tournament, but now is the time to fade him. Arkansas is set to take on the best defense it has had to face so far in UConn.

The Huskies rank 11th in the country in opponent effective field goal percentage. The last two teams Arkansas has faced good defenses in Texas A&M and Auburn, Council only scored five and seven points respectively.

I’ll fade him in what should be a defensive slug fest against UConn.

Alijah Martin UNDER 13.5 points (-130)

Alijah Martin is one of the main 3-point shooters for Florida Atlantic. He took five 3-point shots in each of the Owls’ first two NCAA Tournament games, and he has taken an average of 5.4 3-point shots per game this season.

He could be in for a long day against a Tennessee team that boasts the best 3-point field goal percentage in the country, keeping teams to shooting just 26.4% from beyond the arc.

Florida Atlantic hasn’t played a defense as good as Tennessee this season, so I’m going to fade Martin’s point total on Thursday.

Jaime Jaquez Jr. OVER 19.5 points (-110)

Gonzaga’s poor defense is finally going to come back to haunt them when the Bulldogs take on the UCLA Bruins. Gonzaga ranks 218th in the country in opponent two-point field goal percentage, allowing opponents to shoot 51% from down low against them.

Jaime Jaquez Jr. must be licking his lips looking at the matchup ahead of him. He’s coming off a 24-point performance against Northwestern, and I think he’s going to carry the Bruins to the Elite 8.
