Before the 2023 NCAA Tournament, Florida Atlantic had never won a game in the ‘Big Dance.’ Now, Dusty May’s Owls are dancing all the way to the Final Four after beating Kansas State 79-76 in a thrilling East Regional Finals.
No. 9 seed Florida Atlantic had been a mid major analytics darling all season, but only few had the confidence to back the team to make a deep March Madness run during the regular season, except for a few. The Owls, who beat No. 8 Memphis in a thrilling first round matchup, outlasted both feisty No. 16 seed Fairleigh Dickinson and No. 4 seed Tennessee before getting past No. 3 seed Kansas State in the Elite Eight on Saturday night.
Before the tournament started last Thursday, the Owls were still a longshot to make a run, +13000 in the Futures market. Now, two wins away from an improbable National Championship, FAU is +650.
