Beyoncé Is Still Telfar’s Biggest Fan

Beyoncé Is Still Telfar’s Biggest Fan

Beyoncé fans, rejoice! Today, the superstar’s seventh album, Renaissance, is finally out in the world—and with its myriad references to the rich history of disco and house music (and very steamy lyrics) expect it to be soundtracking dancefloors around the world all through the long, hot summer ahead.

But eagle-eyed—or should we say eagle-eared—fans have already spotted a very different kind of reference among the Robin S. samples and thumping electro beats. The album’s closing track, “Summer Renaissance,” also serves as a paean of sorts to Bey’s love for fashion, featuring shoutouts to some of her favorite brands, including Versace, Prada, Bottega Veneta, and Balenciaga. “So elegant and raunchy, this haute couture I’m flaunting,” she sings with delicious imperiousness over a sample of the rippling synth line from Donna Summer’s disco classic “I Feel Love.”

Beyoncé being Beyoncé, however, she made sure we were aware she still has her finger on the fashion pulse, throwing in a nod to the beloved Black-owned brand Telfar, too. “This Telfar bag imported, Birkins, them shits in storage,” she adds on the same track. It’s not the first time that Bey has made her love for Telfar known—she took one of his white-hot “Bushwick Birkins” for a spin last year on a day out in New York City, worn with a pair of wide-leg Christopher John Rogers floral pants, of course—but with her love for the brand now immortalized in lyric form, she’s firmly staked her claim as one of Telfar’s biggest fans. As she herself puts it on the song’s final lyric: “I’m in my bag.”
