Bhumi Pednekar has played the character of a fiery wife for the first time in Shashank Khaitan’s Govinda Naam Mera. She is named Gauri Waghmare in the movie and she is someone who doesn’t get into the pity state despite the fact that her husband Govinda (Vicky Kaushal) has a girlfriend (Kiara Advani).

Bhumi is happy with the love her character is receiving from the audience ever since Govinda Naam Mera started streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from December 16. “I live for the love of (the) audiences and it is so heartening that people have always been kind enough to give a lot of love for my performances,” she said in a statement. “Since my debut (Dum Laga Ke Haisha), I have tried to choose roles that have a striking impact on screen and on the hearts of audiences and it is really encouraging to see them praising my performance in Govinda Naam Mera.”
She added, “It is always interesting to play different roles in every film and live through so many characters and challenge yourself constantly. Gauri Waghmare is that character for me. She is a riot. I have never come across such a character in life but more power to her.”
In fact, Bhumi also went onto say that, if it was possible, she would have formed a close association with Gauri Waghmare. “I think I can be best friends with her because she is witty, self-reliant and fiercely independent. I love women who don’t think of themselves as inferior to men and she will be one of the most fun characters that I have played on screen to date,” said the actress.
Bhumi has as many as seven films lined up, which include, Bheed, The Ladykiller, Afwaa, Bhakshak, Mere Husband Ki Biwi and a couple of unannounced projects.
