One of last year’s biggest artistic losses was the lack of fellowship from live performances — from homegrown fine and performing arts to local names at modest spaces. This week’s 2021-2022 season announcement from Newman Center Presents takes steps to correct that.
The Nov. 19-April 8, 2022 season includes a typically diverse lineup with Veronica Swift (Nov. 19), Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca (Nov. 21), a holiday show with Fiesta Colorado, Mariachi Sol de Mi Tierra, and ArtistiCO (Nov. 30), Kronos Quartet (Jan. 12, 2022), three Nat Geo Live shows, jazz great and preservationist Wynton Marsalis, and many more. Tickets for the shows at the Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts, on University of Denver’s campus, are on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1. (Prices vary, newmancenterpresents.com)
Despite the last-minute loss of its 2021 headliner, Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy, organizers of the Bluebird Music Festival are forging ahead with a planned 2022 edition. Next year’s lineup of artists at the University of Colorado’s Mackey Auditorium will include folksy indie artists such as Margo Price, Colin Meloy (The Decemberists), Waxahatchee, Langhorne Slim with his full band, The Lone Bellow, Bedouine, Scott T. Smith, Cole Scheifele and Emelise. Tickets for the April 23-24, 2022 festival are on sale. ($29-$49 per showcase set, bluebirdmusicfestival.org)
Promoters this week announced a second night of Trevor Hall and Citizen Cope, following a sold-out show scheduled for April 29, 2022. Tickets for the new, April 28, all-ages concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre are on sale at 10 a.m. Nov. 22. ($50-$90, axs.com)
Wallows, the L.A. rock band composed of actors Dylan Minnette and Braeden Lemasters, along with musician Cole Preston, will headline a July 2, 2022, concert at Mission Ballroom as part of the act’s North American “Tell Me That It’s Over” tour. Tickets for the 16-and-up show are on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8. ($40-$80, axs.com)
Electronic dance-music artists Yheti and Eprom will co-headline the Ogden Theatre on Dec. 21, with support from Black Carl and HoneyBee. Tickets for the 16-and-up show are on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1. ($25-$30, axs.com)
