The legendary Attitude Era Superstar skipped out on WrestleMania this year, but he confirmed that there have been pitches for him to feature in a match against a top superstar (possibly against Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns) in the WWE.
Austin turned down those pitches and thus we may have been deprived of seeing a historic match. But going by the latest reports, it appears that The Texas Rattlesnake will be back on WWE programme after all.
BWE was the first source to inform that WWE is making early plans for Stone Cold Steve Austin to return and give a big rub to a current WWE Superstar. No specific name was given about his opponent.
Details regarding the return weren’t clarified but BWE noted a star will be elevated from his current position via this return, “Certain plans being discussed. Cant give away more info atm. But a star gets a big SCSA rub soon.”
Ringside News further reached out to confirm this report about this possible mega WWE return, and they were told by the source that, “it’s always discussed, especially since his show is a WWE project.”
A tenured member of the WWE creative team also confirmed to RSN that Steve Austin’s name is “always alive” in the conversation. His one presence can draw significant numbers for a show and WWE certainly wants to utilize his capability.
Speaking of capability, Austin remains open to having another match after coming out of retirement against Kevin Owens. As noted in multiple interviews that he’d be willing to wrestle again in a perfect situation which was offered at WrestleMania 38.
Now, speculations have it that the former WWE Champion would do something against LA Knight since many believe the latter had the mic skills to become the next Austin. Planning between these two didn’t come to fruition at WrestleMania 39.
Moving forward, LA has gone on to become the hottest up-and-coming superstar in the WWE and he’s also entered the top 5 list of the highest merchandise-sellers in WWE, today. So, he might end up getting the rub from Austin.
