Asante Samuel is taking shots at everybody — including his former team.
Just days after trading barbs on Twitter with Sauce Gardner and Darelle Revis, the former defensive back now has Bill Belichick in his sights.
When asked by CBS if Belichick is the greatest coach in the NFL’s history, Samuel made clear what he felt about the Patriots icon.
“Absolutely not,” Samuel said to CBS. “Are you crazy? Look at his record without Tom [Brady]. You got to win without Tom. One thing I learned about being great, you have to be great in different situations.
“It was all Tom, I was there, I saw it, it was Tom.”
“Everybody know it, Tom know it,” Samuel added. “But he ain’t gonna admit because he wanna be politically correct. That’s why I’m here. Imma tell the truth… I’ve been there, I’ve seen him, I’ve confronted him, that’s how I do.”
Samuel, who played 11 seasons in the NFL and five years with the Patriots, was a four-time Pro Bowl cornerback who won two Super Bowls in New England.
Brady and Belichick won six Super Bowls together throughout the quarterback’s tenure in New England, and the duo is widely considered to be the best coach-quarterback pairing of all time.
Now, Belichick could be on the hot seat after a few disappointing seasons.
After Brady left the Patriots following the 2019 season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the since-retired signal-caller won one Super Bowl and led Tampa Bay to the playoffs three times.
The Patriots have made the postseason just once in the post-Brady era.
Samuel also generated controversy recently when he called out Gardner, the young Jets cornerback, for being overhyped.
“The New York media will take your career to another level,” Samuel wrote on Twitter.
“The tweet literally says those were the cornerback rankings by PLAYERS, EXECUTIVES, SCOUTS, & COACHES… I’m trynna figure out why you keep bringing up NY Media,” Gardner responded.
Revis, an all-time Jets cornerback who will be a Hall of Famer, jumped in as well.
“Quit being a hater when it comes to young rising stars @ the cornerback position,” Revis tweeted.
“Be mad @ the voters who never considered you shutdown.”
