There might not be a bigger Boston Celtics fan than Bill Simmons.
The former ESPN personality, who left to start The Ringer, which later sold to Spotify, is having an understandably rough night on Sunday evening.
Boston is currently getting blown out by Miami in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Celtics are trailing the Heat, 2-0, in the series.
“The fall of the Celtics defense in 2023 is just dumbfounding. Kudos to Miami for knowing exactly how to attack a disconnected, poorly coached half-asleep team. This is embarrassing. Oh and the timeout came 4 plays too late. Should be a fun pod tonight!” he tweeted.
Simmons added: “Miami easily got White switched onto Butler over and over again until the Celts had to take him out. It’s like the time when Tatum…. Oh wait the Celtics don’t hunt mismatches I forgot.”

Barring a shocking fourth quarter comeback, the Celtics will go down, 3-0, in the Eastern Conference Finals.
No team in NBA history has ever come back from a 3-0 series deficit in the playoffs.
So, if Boston is going to reach the NBA Finals, they’re going to have to make league history.
